What We Provide

Dare 2 Dream’s core focus is on the equine therapy we provide abused, neglected or abandoned children, as well as those with developmental issues. In addition, we’ve begun a corporate training offer, providing leadership and team-building exercises.

Youth Assistance & Rehabilitation

The Dare 2 Dream program involves working with horses in the rehabilitation of youth with emotional, mental, behavioral, social and psychological needs enabling them to leave the bonds of their disabilities behind, as they move towards freedom.

Corporate Activities

We have developed both leadership and team building programs. These programs are suitable for private lessons or for groups of four or less at our Benoni yard. Voluntary donations for the activities are put towards the Youth Assistance & Rehabilitation programme.

What We Do

The Dare 2 Dream program involves working with horses in the rehabilitation of youth with emotional, mental, behavioral, social and psychological needs enabling them to leave the bonds of their disabilities behind, as they move towards freedom.

The programs include, but is not limited to a number of equine activities beneficial to both horse and rider.

Sensory integration — all five senses being sight, sound, smell, taste and touch, are engaged during the activities of therapeutic riding. Time is set aside for mental stimulation through discussions and physical stimulation through activities with the horses.

Communication — Research proves that speech development is one of the first aspects positively influenced in the motion of horse riding. Time is set aside during each session to communicate with each other and with the horses resulting in self-confidence with expression.

Grooming is linked to self-esteem, a sense of self and self-nurturing and most importantly the sense of touch and sensitivity. Grooming the horses, teaches the benefit of gentle physical interaction, caring, and respect for body space.

Leading from the ground - Teaches problem solving by thinking through problems (horses respond by interpreting the instructions) it therefore also teaches the benefit of teamwork. Groundwork encourages leadership abilities in a noncompetitive environment.

Riding — Activates the vestibular system, which in turn stimulates certain brain functions; promotes physical awareness and self confidence, improves balance, fosters trust, develops muscle tone, eyehand coordination and creates calmness in the rider which improves concentration and focus.

Change in behavior patterns — horses mirror the authentic emotions that humans try to hide. A new environment forces one into self-awareness.

We have developed both leadership and team building programs. These programs are suitable for private lessons or for groups of four or less at our Benoni yard.

All the Dare 2 Dream activities provide the participant with support to "re-pattern" mal-adaptive behaviors, feelings and attitudes and based on the feedback a positive change is visible within four sessions.
